Privacy Notice

This site (roopemyller.fi) is a personal portfolio operated by Roope Myller. This notice explains what personal data the site processes and why. It is written to meet the information requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Finnish Data Protection Act.

What the site collects

Contact form

If you use the contact form, the name, email address and message you enter are submitted so that Roope Myller can read and reply to your enquiry.

• Legal basis: legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) in receiving and answering messages sent to the site.
• Processor: the submission is delivered through Web3Forms, which forwards it by email and does not use it for its own purposes.
• Retention: messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up, then deleted.

Spam protection (hCaptcha)

The contact form is protected by hCaptcha, provided by Intuition Machines, Inc. hCaptcha loads only after you interact with the form. To tell humans from bots it processes technical data such as your IP address, browser and device characteristics, and mouse/keyboard events, and it sets cookies for that purpose.

• Legal basis: legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) in preventing automated abuse of the form.

Hosting and performance measurement

The site is hosted by Vercel Inc. Vercel processes standard server request data (including IP address) in log form to deliver and secure the site. The site also uses Vercel Speed Insights, which measures anonymous page-performance metrics (such as loading times and device type). Speed Insights does not use cookies and is not used to identify individual visitors.

Embedded third-party content

• YouTube videos are embedded in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). YouTube (Google) only receives data once you start playing a video.
• GitHub repository preview images are loaded from github.com on the Projects section, so GitHub receives your IP address when those images load.
• Web fonts are served from this site directly — no request is made to Google Fonts or other font CDNs.

Photographs

The photography and shooting galleries contain images that may show identifiable people. These are published as part of Roope Myller's photography portfolio. If you appear in an image and want it removed, contact roope.myller@gmail.com.

Cookies, consent and local storage

The site itself sets no analytics or advertising cookies. On your first visit a banner lets you accept or reject two optional categories:

• Performance analytics — Vercel Speed Insights. Its script is not loaded unless you accept.
• Spam protection — hCaptcha on the contact form. It is not loaded, and sets no cookies, unless you accept; if you decline, the contact form cannot be submitted (you can still email directly).

Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage under the key rm-consent so the banner is not shown again. You can change it any time via “Cookie settings” in the site footer. This record is the only storage the site sets by default.

International transfers

Web3Forms, hCaptcha and Vercel are based in the United States. Where personal data is transferred there, it is done under the safeguards those providers offer (such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework).

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• access the personal data held about you;
• have inaccurate data corrected;
• have your data erased;
• restrict or object to processing;
• data portability, where applicable.
